— OUR STORY · AN INITIATIVE OF LE GOÛT DES CHOSES —

It all startswith a thread.

Le Hamac - le temps suspendu is a space where the threads of a life intertwine.

This is my story, of course, but it’s also that of a whole tribe. That of my partner, who builds at my side, supports and encourages me; of our seven children, who inspire me through their talents, their interests and their personalities; of my family and friends, who have believed in the project from the very first day.

The story took shape instinctively, one thread at a time, along the paths travelled and the passions that drive me.

Pure, simple and authentic moments I share with my own: a passion for cooking, for rosemary and roses. A day of fishing, a chance meeting with a chanterelle forager that sparked an interest in mushrooms. Visiting flower farms while organizing one of my daughters’ weddings makes me want my hands in the soil. Afternoons spent digging through thrift shops, unearthing treasures that ask only to live again. I want to support our artists and artisans, known or not. I want to be more ecological, to consume less, to waste less. I want to care for our world…

Meanwhile, life moves fast. A busy career juggling management, customer service, business development and human resources. The joy of giving, guiding, structuring. But deep down, an ever-stronger desire begins to take root: to share and collaborate differently.

The threads come together

One February morning: a text from my partner. A listing for cabins for sale in La Malbaie. Some opportunities don’t come twice…

That same day, we jump in the car. We visit, and instantly fall under the spell of the mountain, the light, the feel of the place. A week later, the offer is in. Three months later, we sign the deed of sale: the keys are in our hands, vertigo and excitement blend together.

Today, we take that spark and turn it into a haven of peace. We cleaned, sanded, repainted, rethought every space with the help of our own, breathing into it our travel memories and our love of the land.

We created Le Hamac to live to the rhythm of the seasons. To pause and savour the passing of every second. To offer a warm, collaborative and respectful space, where the community meets. A gentle, light-filled place, suspended in time.

And this is only the first chapter. Because you don’t build a dream all at once, Le Hamac is a living project that will keep evolving, growing and unfolding over time, one phase at a time.

— WHAT GUIDES US —

Four bindings,
one same intention.

We don’t talk much about them - we’d rather they be felt the moment you step in. Here they are nonetheless.

A taste for the land

Cooking, the garden, products from here: le goût des choses, in the truest sense.

Local artists & artisans

Supporting our artists, known or not. Creations and objects that tell a story.

Caring for what surrounds us

Wasting less, making things last, giving objects a second life. One gesture at a time.

Community, gathered

Ties that quietly form: family, people from here, those passing through. Everyone has a place.

Take a seat,
time is suspended.

See you very soon, in our mountain.
